Larimer Humane Society is an independent nonprofit working to further the compassionate, safe, and responsible relationship between animals and people.
Open doors
When every other door in an animal’s life closes, ours open. We provide care and shelter to homeless, lost, abused, unwanted and abandoned pets.
Responsible pet ownership
We are committed to public safety and high quality of life for people and animals. We provide resources to pet owners and uphold the ordinances that keep animals and people in our community safe.
Education
Compassion for an animal’s tomorrow begins with education today. We provide humane education programs for students and adults.
Our Values
Open admission
As an open-door shelter, we believe all animals deserve a safe haven and to have their care and treatment guided by the Five Freedoms.
Service
We believe that our role is to serve our community, both animals and people, with respect, dignity and compassion.
Trust
We believe that trust must be continually earned by actively listening to the needs and expectations of our community, communicating openly and honestly, acting as good stewards of the resources entrusted to us, and by providing reliable, accessible programs and services that improve the lives of animals and people.
Collaboration
We believe that it is only through the collective ideas, talents and contributions of our community – including our leadership, volunteers, staff, supporters and partners – that our mission can be fulfilled.
Leadership Responsibility
As community leaders, we believe we must think progressively and responsibly, seeking new ways to meet the changing needs of our community and supporting efforts to improve the lives of animals and people within Northern Colorado and beyond.
Safety
We are committed to the safety of the animals and the people in our community and will exercise our responsibility to both ensure existing laws are enforced and to grow the bond between animals and people that contributes to the high quality of life in Northern Colorado.
