We strive to be an essential component to the high quality of life for animals and people in Northern Colorado.
The opening of our new shelter in September 2017 marked a new era for Larimer Humane Society. With more space, efficiency and flexibility, we can better achieve our mission of furthering the compassionate, safe and responsible relationship between animals and people. We are proud to strengthen our commitment to our community and the animals we share it with. The strategic goals that will guide our work over the next fiscal year (July 1, 2019 – June 31, 2020) are listed here.
Outreach and influence
We are committed to being an essential community resource and leader in animal welfare.
Programs and services
We are expanding our services to strengthen the safety net for quality animal care in the communities we serve, while also providing excellent sheltering and animal protection services.
Organizational capacity
We are enhancing our staff, volunteer, board and financial resources as needed to achieve our goals and support the organizational growth.
Our work is guided by the five freedoms every animal deserves.
Freedom from hunger and thirst
by ready access to fresh water and diet to maintain health and vigor.
2Freedom from discomfort
by providing an appropriate environment including shelter and a comfortable resting area.
3Freedom from pain, injury and disease
by prevention or rapid diagnosis and treatment.
4Freedom to express normal behavior
by providing sufficient space, proper facilities and company of the animal’s own kind.
5Freedom from fear and distress
by ensuring conditions and treatment which avoid mental suffering.
